Cleveland Business Development GrantsAugust 1, 2012
Cleveland offers several types of grants for local small business owners or people who want to start a small business. The Ohio Job-Ready Sites Program was created in 2005 in order to bolster the State’s inventory of available locations served by utility and transportation infrastructure. Sites improved under the program are certified by third-party consulting firms as ready for shoveling.
The maximum for each Job-Ready Sites Program grant is 5 million dollars and can be used to reduce many different costs usually caused by industrial and commercial site development, . Funds are directed strategically to achieve two equally important objectives: to create sites filling gaps in Ohio’s current site inventory and to encourage unique, catalytic re-investments in developed areas of the State. Because of this, JRS Program funds are available each year to a limited number of sites that offer Ohio’s best opportunities for future large-scale development and/or re-use.
There are several types of grants involved in this program. Among them are the Ohio Research Commercialization Grant Program, Emerging technologies funding grant, Business Development Grants, and Alternative Fuel Transportation Grants. The specific amounts are not mentioned for the Grants, except for the Alternative Fuel Transportation, which can be worth up to 900 thousand dollars.
